FAQ
- How do cats do metalworking without thumbs?
Same way they treat wounds by weaving cobwebs: suspension of disbelief.
- Can my Ridge Fangs cat be religious / my Ivory Talons cat be atheist?
Yes, but keep in mind the culture of the Clan they reside in. Being openly religious in the Ridge Fangs may mark your character as strange and/or deluded, while being openly atheist in the Ivory Talons may lead to shunning by their Clanmates, potentially to the point of exile.
- Can my character wear body armour?
No. Metal is still a precious resource for the Clans, and full body armour would use up an impractical amount. The weather is also quite hot, and both flexibility and speed are assets in fighting, making body armour for defence impractical outside of the resource issues. Armour is strictly relegated to helmets, which typically include horns for ramming.
- Can my cat have a metal prosthetic?
Yes! Despite metal being scarce, a prosthetic to help a Clanmate would be considered a good use of it. Most limb prosthetics would be a mix of both metal and wood to cut down on the amount of metal used. Eye prosthetics would be rare, as they are not seen as necessary; the Clans would be more likely to give them a leather eyepatch if the cat wants one.
- Can my cat wear accessories or clothing?
Generally, no. Your cat’s design can include stuff like flowers or their fur being messy with sticks and leaves often stuck in it, but the Clans do not wear accessories with no practical use, metal or not. Cats’ creative endeavours are carved into items such as metal helmets, or carved into the stones and useless metal used to decorate camps or nests (such as the Ridge Fangs’ Gilded Corridors). We do not allow accessories or clothing due to the fact anti-Indigenous stereotypes are prolific in those types of designs.
- Can my character be a spy? Can I apply with them already being a spy? Can my spy switch sides / be a double agent?
Yes, yes, and yes! You will just need to make a note of it in your application, or (if already in the server) submit a plot suggestion form. Just keep in mind spies who reside within the other Clan’s camp are relatively rare due to the danger and skills needed; befriending another Clan’s cat to get information, or hiding and listening in on conversations, are much more common.
- Can my cat investigate the Celestial Canopy’s disappearance?
Yes, though we will be upfront with the fact this roleplay’s plot line is not focused on solving their disappearance. Do not expect a grand reveal of what happened to them if your cat pursues this line.
- Do the Clans keep livestock or otherwise engage in animal husbandry?
No. The Clan’s camps are not advantageous for that type of activity. Your cat can have an affinity for a certain animal (such as birds being uncharacteristically unafraid of them), but they cannot farm them for materials.
- Do forgers hunt or fight?
Forgers will hunt, but they rarely participate in battles.
- Are Savannah cats / toygers / etc allowed?
Somewhat. Your cat must be a full-blooded domestic cat, but they can look like a Savannah cat. We do not allow actual hybrids, as they pose an unfair advantage during battle.
- Can my ex-rogue keep their rogue name?
No. The Clans will give them a warrior name. They can, however, use both if they so choose.
- Can my cat have / get Wasting Sickness?
Yes, please write in the application or (if in server) submit it to the plot suggestion form. Keep in mind Wasting Sickness has a 100% kill rate with no exceptions, so you are sentencing your character to death. The disease can lie dormant for two years, and cats are expected to die from it anywhere between one month and one year after symptoms develop.
- Can I suggest new weapons or tech?
Yes! If you have a suggestion for something the Clans could feasibly invent and how it would work, please submit it to the plot suggestion form. The mods will review it and potentially approve it, should it make sense within the setting. Additions like this will most likely be roleplayed out.
Welcome!
Forged Hope is a discord based 16+ Warrior Cats roleplay with light fantasy and strong horror elements. It takes inspiration from both Warrior Cats and Guardians of Ga’Hoole to create a unique spin on the typical Clan formula.
For as long as anyone can imagine, cats have occupied the territories where mountains bleed into the sea. Originally, these cats were fragmented by petty disputes among themselves. Two groups of cats were formed after visions from their ancestors: the Ivory Talons and the Ridge Fangs. Their ancestors, known as the Celestial Canopy, granted their leaders nine lives, gave them a code of ethics to live by, and guided these Clans with visions for hundreds of cycles. The Clans would war over religion, territory or ideals, but they always came together for a truce during the full moon. When push came to shove, they came to each other’s defense in times of great need.
Gradually, the Celestial Canopy’s guidance waned, until they went silent altogether. The Clans were given no warnings or other visions. Even the Celestial Moths, seen as messengers for the Celestials, went extinct. Meteor storms began to hit the territories frequently. The Ridge Fangs turned their back on the Celestials, abandoning their spiritual ways as the Celestials abandoned them. The Ivory Talons held onto their faith and changed how their Clan was run, believing strict adherence to the Warrior Code would bring the Celestials back.
It was around this time a mysterious loner, known as Hephaestia, visited the territories and took interest in the meteors. It was then the Clans learned the most important advancement in their history: metalworking. With it came leatherworking, and later, as the ore from meteors ran out, mining, masonry, and glassworking. In the two hundred cycles since the discovery of metal, the Clans have been in an extended period of peace. Nonetheless, as technology advanced, the Clans created more and more weaponry, though these arms have only seen use against large prey. Similarly, they developed espionage, spying on one another’s plans, resources, and inventions – some cats are even said to live among the other Clan, feeding information back to their real Clanmates.
The Clans still find themselves in peacetime, but its limits are wearing thin. The Wasting Sickness, a mysterious disease that caused mass death and chaos many cycles ago, is said to have returned. The Ridge Fangs have continuously hoarded their territory’s greater access to metal, while the Ivory Talons have held onto a contested territory for cycles. Espionage has increased, as has paranoia. Stockpiles of weaponry gleam as their time seems to be nearing…
