Rules

OUT OF CHARACTER

  • The minimum age to join the server is sixteen.
    • If you are fifteen and soon to be sixteen (within a few months) when applications open, please contact us. We will be willing to make exceptions in those circumstances. We do not require hard proof of your age. However, we reserve the right to kick you if we find out you lied about your age.
  • Be respectful to everyone in the server.
    • Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and otherwise bigoted remarks will not be tolerated. Slurs are not allowed even if they are reclaimed, excluding situations where it is part of an identity label (i.e. genderqueer).
  • Respect the blacklist.
    • Refusal to follow the blacklist will result in a kick. Please do not question what is on the blacklist, especially publicly. Please remember that triggers are involuntary and often stem from trauma.
  • The server is considered PG-13. Cursing and crude humour is fine, explicit sexual content is not.
    • While gore is allowed, it must be put under a spoiler tag with a warning. We reserve the right to make judgement calls on content crossing the line as needed.
  • No AI generated images, designs or text is allowed.
  • If there is an issue with another member, take it to DMs or contact a mod.
  • If someone expresses discomfort over a certain topic, be respectful and change the subject.
  • You can only have one high rank character (leader, deputy, oracle) per person, unless due to necessity.
    • Activity check-ins will be done if the high rank character is not roleplayed once a month. After three months of no roleplaying (should no reasoning be given for the absence), we will remove you from the rank. Mods reserve the right to have more than one high rank if it ends up necessary.
  • If you are going on a hiatus and have a high ranking character, please contact a mod.
    • Real life comes first! We do need to plan around absences, though. Similarly, please let a mod know if you wish to step down, or are leaving the server, so we know what to do with your character. If you do not tell us what to do with your character, we reserve the right to decide if we will retcon or kill off the character.
  • The current character limit is five. This may increase in the future.

IN CHARACTER

  • No god-modding or powerplaying.
    • Leave attacks open ended (for example, “He swung at her snout” instead of “He cut her snout with his claws”); and keep in mind your character is not invincible.
  • Be at least semi-literate.
    • There is no requirement to write three paragraphs each reply, but try to at least write three or more sentences for your replies.
    Please do not post joke replies to posts. Reaction emojis are fine, responding with a one sentence joke is not.
  • We have gatherings and half moon meetings when the plot needs to progress, but we operate on liquid time.
    • You are free to liquid time threads before the current rollover moon.
    Do not bother people if they are slow to reply, in server or in DMs. An occasional ask if they are still interested is fine, constantly asking when they will reply is not.
  • Keep in mind in character is not out of character. Please do not take rude comments in character personally.
  • Warriors typically retire between 100 and 120 moons.
  • We do not allow massive age gaps between cats, incest, or mentor/apprentice relationships.
    • Apprentices can only date other apprentices. Between warriors, the age gap is 15 moons max, with marriage and kits allowed at 20 moons earliest. The gap increases to 40 moons once both cats are over 60 moons.
  • We do not allow any sort of sexual content, sexual assault or sexual harassment to be roleplayed, period.
  • When roleplaying out heavy topics (i.e. death or gore scenes), tag and add spoilers accordingly.
  • If you are interested in a specific plot, please submit it officially through our Plot Suggestion Form.
    • This includes, but is not limited to: having kits, forbidden romances, murder, mutilation, leaving a Clan/changing Clans, and espionage. You may DM a mod to figure out details, but all plots need to be run through the form. This is not to discourage ideas, but for organisation and planning purposes.
  • When creating disabled characters (such as cats who are blind, deaf, or missing limbs), please be mindful of ableist tropes.
    • Disabled cats can become warriors and forgers, and should not be forced into roles such as oracle because of their disability. Disabled cats are not barred from being oracles, as long as they were not forced into the role because of their disability.
  • When creating characters, please keep the setting in mind. Humans are not known to the Clans, and have not been for centuries. Kittypet backstories are not allowed.
  • The cats in the Clans are on a technological level most similar to ancient humans. They can weave things together, create fire, do basic medicine, create simple traps, and their most advanced skills are mining and metalworking. They do not wear clothes or armour, outside of helmets. Check the “smithery” page for examples of what the Clans do.
  • Have fun with your design, but keep it semi-realistic.
    • Cats with glowing neon eyes, particularly unnaturally coloured pelts (like bright green), particularly unnaturally coloured eyes (like rainbow) or anything similar will not be allowed. Other than that, go wild!
    We do not allow designs that are offensive to indigenous people; do not design or draw cats that fall under this category. This includes but is not limited to cats wearing feathers behind their ears, having “tribal” body paint, and specific types of clothing; though no types of clothing are allowed in designs anyways.
  • Non-traditional names are allowed, as long as they make sense for a parent to name their kit.

    • As long as they can feasibly know of that concept, then we allow it! This includes pretty much any animal or plant name, even if they are not native species in server (lion, tiger, and the like fall into this). Check the allegiances for examples of what names are allowed.

    Cats can be renamed, just like in the books; however, please speak with the roleplayer of the Clan leader before doing so.

    We do not allow prefixes that are translated into other languages, unless that language is already used in the common name of a species (i.e. Pudu).

    Names may be denied based on word connotations or innuendo.

    We allow any prefix to be used twice before it is also considered restricted from more cats having it.

    The prefixes Star, Ivory and Ridge are not allowed.
  • Canaries are allowed, but in limited quantities. We also limit apprentice and kit numbers occasionally.
    • Please contact a mod before making a role that is restricted.

We follow a three strike system. If you receive a strike, you will be notified by a mod and told what rule you’ve broken, with a picture of what occurred. Minor warnings should not be considered as strikes (we understand mistakes are made!), but may be considered towards a punishment if a pattern of bad behavior emerges.

We can and will utilize discord’s “timeout” function as a means of punishment, should it be necessary.

After three strikes, you will be kicked from the server. We absolutely reserve the right to kick a member after less than three strikes, should their offense be especially egregious.
